Even though the people who run the top businesses in the world wield an incredible amount of wealth and power, the general public knows very little about most of them. When it comes to Elon Musk, however, he has managed to become a household name through a combination of his business success and uncompromising personality.
A man who has led a fascinating life, most people know little about Elon Musk’s dangerous past or how he rose to power in the business world, to begin with. Instead, Musk is known for running Tesla, embracing Bitcoin, launching SpaceX, and his involvement with Twitter. When it comes to Musk and Twitter, his involvement with the social media website has always been controversial. In fact, Musk’s Twitter conduct has been so outrageous at times that even his on-again and off-again girlfriend of many years once wrote that she couldn’t support his actions on the website.
Elon Musk’s Controversial Twitter Past
As of the time of this writing, Elon Musk’s decision to buy Twitter is dominating the news cycle worldwide. Long before he made that massive business decision, however, Musk was already garnering lots of headlines due to his past Twitter conduct.
In the past, Elon Musk’s time on Twitter has had a lot of highlights and lowlights depending on your point of view. For example, one of Musk’s Tweets wound up costing him millions. The reason for that is Musk tweeted about potentially taking Tesla private at $420 a share and the stock price of the company went down as a result. After the Securities and Exchange Commission investigated the situation, they deemed that Musk’s tweet cost investors money and gave Elon two $20 million fines.
On another occasion, things turned rotten after Elon Musk initially tried to offer aid in a dire situation. When a group of 12 boys was trapped in a Thai cave, Musk sent Tesla engineers and a small submarine to the scene in an attempt to help save the kids. While Musk’s move seemed genuine to most observers, one of the people involved in the rescue called his actions a “PR stunt”. Outraged by that remark, Musk called that man a “pedo guy” in response and wound up in court after he was sued for defamation. Ultimately, Musk prevailed in that trial but he was found guilty in the court of public opinion.
On top of those two extremely notable situations, Elon Musk’s Twitter conduct, in general, has caused a lot of controversies. For example, Musk has taken some extremely strong stances during the COVID-19 pandemic by downplaying the virus and speaking out against lockdowns. While some people love that Musk has taken those positions, others are outraged by what he has tweeted about the pandemic.
Why Grimes Doesn't Support Elon Musk’s Twitter Conduct
Ever since Elon Musk first rose to fame, he has principally associated himself with extraordinary people. For example, Elon’s brother Kimbal Musk has been labeled a “supervillain” since he is such an outrageous person. With that in mind, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that Elon has been romantically linked to several notable people.
During Elon Musk’s time in the public eye, he has dated several female celebrities including Talulah Riley, Cameron Diaz, and Amber Heard. On top of that, it has been rumored that Musk was involved with Cara Delevingne at one point. Despite all of those relationships, it could easily be argued that Musk’s most notable girlfriend is Grimes. Together off and on between 2018 and 2022, Grimes and Musk seemed like they were made for each other for a long time. During their time together, Musk and Grimes had two children and since their split, she has called the business leader her “best friend” and the “love of [her] life”.
Given the ways that Grimes has described her relationship with Elon Musk, it seems clear that she cares very deeply about him. With that in mind, it is pretty shocking that in July of 2020, Grimes took to Twitter to very publically call Musk out for something he posted on the social media website.
On July 24th of 2020, Elon Musk Tweeted “Twitter sucks” in the early afternoon and then he followed that up by tweeting “Pronouns suck” just before midnight. Clearly deeply upset by Musk’s tweet about pronouns, Grimes responded with a post of her own. “I love you but please turn off ur phone or give me a call. I cannot support hate. Please stop this. I know this isn’t your heart”
In a surprising turn of events, after unequivocably criticizing Elon Musk’s pronouns tweet in a very public way, Grimes wound up deleting her post. On the other hand, Musk’s tweet about pronouns remains up to this day.
